A BIT ABOUT BRIDGEFIELD
The current line-up is missing a vocalist with the departure of Tola Lamont in July 2008, and the band are beginning the search for a new female front person. Dave Quinton, on drums, joined the band early in 2008 with Paul Stocker on Bass recruited in the Spring of 2007, added to the keyboards of Martin Kent and the guitars of John Woods. Bridgefield has been writing as a collective since 2000/1 performing around London and the shires at such spots as: The Garage in Highbury, The Half Moon in Putney, The Rock Garden in Covent Garden, The Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, Gossips in Soho, Last Rockers at Camden Lock, The White Horse and The Red Lion in Wycombe and The Horn in St.Albans.
Bridgefield are an original five-piece band hailing from the Buckinghamshire/North West London/North London borders.
They create a diverse blend of Alternative Rock/Pop which is written and produced at Bridgefield Studios
in Princes Risborough, UK. Staff members are: Vacancy, Vocals;
John Woods, Guitar; Paul Stocker, Bass;
Dave Quinton, Drums; Martin Kent, Keyboards and Rosie Kent, who is admirably providing our live Backing Vocals
To categorise the Bridgefield sound, comparisons have been made with artists
such as; Garbage; The Cranberries; Blondie; Echobelly and Alanis Morissette - to name but a few. However, the only
way to paint the picture is to dive in and have a listen for yourself. With multiple songwriters in the band, the influences
are as diverse! There may be a pigeon-hole somewhere for Bridgefield, but it's probaby a weird shape.
2007 sees the release of the band's latest album entitled, Give You More. The album consists of 10 great indie-pop/rock gems. Go sample the whole album at Indie Store...and, go on, do you bit to support independent rock....buy the album.
Vacancy
A bit about Woody
All he wants from life is to get onto the main stage at Glastonbury and strut his stuff in front of tens of thousands of adoring fans.....oh and to maybe sell a few CDs!
From a song-writing perspective, his influences are legion, including a not easily reconcilable mix of Blondie and Jamiroquai. But he also wields a darker side which, whilst defying analogy, works in a truly unique way.
A bit about Mart
He, not surprisingly leans towards material that is keyboard dominated; counting Muse, Cooper Temples, Radiohead, Athlete and Coldplay among his influences. But he harbour a closet fascination with crunchy, grungey and downright filthy guitar passages which he seeks to wedge in, surreptitiously, alongside his keys. His predilection for bands such as Bloc Party and Hard-Fi are beginning to have a marked affect on his creative output.
Mart has played piano from the age of six. Got into band music about ten years ago via his original band, Tar. As that drew to its conclusion he struck up a playing partnership with Woody, and Bridgefield was born out of the ashes of John's original band; Backster.
Thick pads, big string sequences, trembley Leslies, lead arpeggiated synth and piano sequences sum up his style, his acrobatic flexibility and incredible overall ability.
A bit about Paul
Here's what Paul has to say about his musical career, aspirations and life in general:
I started playing the guitar when I was 11 and quickly found and fell in love with the bass. I've played in semi pro and pro cover/functions bands for the most part, I was in a signed originals band a long time ago ( more years than a care to remember). I live for my music and am very excited and honoured to be a part of Bridgefield. I like any music with very diverse tastes ranging from old school rock to soul, funk, jazz, indie and even Flamenco - anything really. I love to lay down a groove and nothing pleases me more than seeing a crowd grooving to the bass and drums. I'm a bit of a gear freak and own several basses and guitars. Love cars real ale and the odd curry.
A bit about Dave
He is an outstanding Drummer...nuff said. But don't take my word for it. Come along and see him play. Click Gigs to check where we are performing in the coming months.
