Past Gigs

Sun July 13th 2008
Pic by Terry Lee.
The Weekender Rock Festival #2, Kings Head, Aylesbury. Pic by Terry Lee. This was good. Eight bands, six of which I thought were terrifically brilliant....us included of course. Not going to say who I didn't enjoy as I'm far too discreet, however, even those two acts were very talented and professional....just not my cuppa. This was a part of a whole weekend of rock raising funds for Youth Concern Aylesbury who are trying to build a new drop-in centre for the young folk. Other than Bridgefield, check out The Swamis, and The Scene on Myspace, who were fkg great.

Risboro Town Festival. Market Square. Princes Risborough. Pic by Phil Bowman. Good sized crowd for the mighty Bridgefielders....pity about the weather. Pi$$ed it down towards the end of our set and I've never seen so many people move so quickly into the pub....Spence....you must have been delighted HHAHAHA
Sat July 5th 2008
The George. Hemel Hempstead Charity gig in aid of Herts Air Ambulance organised by the lovely landlords, Jacqui and Andy. a great afternoon/evening of bands and all of us doing our bit for chairidy.
Thur June 21st 2008
Risboro Rocks. Community Centre. Princes Risborough. What a totally cracking gig this was. Great sound by Bob Cronin and great lights by Dave Catterall...totally pro night. We were joined at the gig by three wonderful bands Zealey and Moore, Lightbox and Dream Capture. By the end of the night we were peeling people off the ceiling. A big well done to everyone and I reckon we raised a good few hundred quid for the local kids football club, Risboro Rangers.
Thur June 12th 2008
The Puzzle, Middlesex St, London E1. Off to a shakey start as we upset the football fans watching Euro 2008. Still sod 'em. We set up and delivered an electric set in front of a highly appreciative crowd....which included Lucinda from The Apprentice...rather randomly.
Sat March 22nd 2008
The Whiteleaf Cross, Market Square, Princes Risborough. A gig right on our doorstep...heaven...and it was. The night opened with John Zealey and Ian Moore delivering an acoustic performance of John's lyrically comic/tragic numbers...outstanding and as good an audience reaction as I've seen for two guys with two guitars and one brilliant voice. Then Bridgefield. Dave Quinton returned to the band lineup after an overly long absence...it was perfection. Bridgefield at their most rhythmic, awesomely tight and breathtakingly entertaining. It is always a good time to see the band, but now more than ever. They are pushing live performance to a vertigo-inducing high. See them next at the Antelope in Wycombe...you wont be disappointed.

Tues October 9th 2007
"In At The Deep End" at the BBC West One Club, Gt Portland St. London W1 What a belting night. Short, sharp set delivered...we were only allowed 20 mins. The usual high powered fare, and it went down a storm. We've been asked back for the New Year, so watch this space for announcements. Some great piccies taken and they will be posted asap....and get this, we followed sharply in the footsteps of Wet, wet, wet, who were filming at the club that afternoon. Quick word of thanks to Ed, the soundman...superb sound, superb chap and incidently the man responsible for introducing us all to Underworld.....oooh get us with our posh new mates.

Sat/Sun September 8th/9th 2007
The Weekender Rocks Charity Festival, Kings Head, Aylesbury Whilst the last gig at Montos was a pointless waste of time, the Weekender Rocks Festival in aid of Kids Company was a staggering success. Seven local (to the Aylesbury, Oxford, Watford area) bands pooled their musical might to stage a brilliant weekend...4 sessions of original rock in the historic setting of the Kings Head, and raised a total of just over 1800 quidleys to help kids who have been the victims of mental and physical abuse. Joining Bridgefield for the event were Lightbox, Loz Jones, Dream Capture, Touchstone, MEDIUMdave and Juxstar.

July 13 2007
Montos at The Water Rats, Kings Cross, London I'll be quite frank with you, this was a well wierd gig. We had to sound check at 3:30pm and were kept hanging around till 10:30pm with the attraction of some sandwiches which were curled up more than a pensioner's hair-do. 6 bands in one evening....it just didn't work. We got barely 30 mins onstage...it started, we played well, it ended, and that was that. I would say this gig, of all of our gigs, was the biggest waste of time...a soulless experience at a soulless venue...the only bright spot was a visit from Bridgefielders, Alain Chenier and Andrew Sharp...top blokes.

June 22 2007
The Kings Head, Fulham, London The Kings Head is a fine venue, with outstanding staff and a particularly fine sound crew...the stage was set for a cracking gig...and it was. There was a good enthusiastic crowd for us and we met a lot of new Bridgfielders, hearing the band for the first time, who made their appreciation all too clear. Too many names to mention, but you guys rocked.

Some piccies will be made available for us to post which I will put up here in the very near future....cheers Justin...terrifically kind of you, and great to meet you on Friday.

Ian, the soundman....a sound man indeed, has asked us back, so watch this space for the date...one surely not to be missed.

May 4 2007
The Bullingdon Arms, Oxford What a rare pleasure. We supported a band, Juxstar, who were at once, cracking good musicians with a superbly entertaining set, and also thoroughly good people, and a right good larf. We will be working with them in the future and are very much hoping that they will be on our the bill for our future charity gigs. Needless to say, a bleeding brilliant night's entertainment.
April 14 2007
The Civic Centre, Aylesbury Hmmmm....this was a weird one. To be quite frank, The Civic Centre did f&*k all promotional work for this gig, and we weren't even told what the bill lineup was until the day before. Nevertheless, the three bands taking part, us, Bootstrap and mediumDAVE turned in admirable performances in front of a sparse crowd...who in turn reacted brilliantly to the quality entertainment on display. It was also Paul Stocker, our new bassman's, first outing with the band...he was f&*&*&*g tremendous. The Civic is closing forever soon...the sooner the better.
December 14 2006
The Social, North St, Thame, OX9 3BH. UK This gig was organised by Crash Records as an audition for the April 2007 Profile gig being staged at the Civic Centre in Aylesbury, Bucks. We must have been good because we got the gig. The Social is an intimate place, the band and audience able to exchange bodily juices without moving. The evening was certainly interesting. The PA misbehaved intermittently, instrumental sounds vaporising for a few seconds and returning without so much as a by-your-leave. Deep joy. The assembled mosh pit of 25 (yes, insufficient to sustain even the lightest of crowd surfers) went bananas and danced their way through another groove-sodden Bridgefield set. Everyone went home happy.
November 30 2006
The Puzzle, Middlesex St, London, E1. UK Driving up to London for a gig is always a tense experience...mainly because the traffic is so f*****ng awful and you don't know if you're gonna get to the venue on time. This time, we had a dream trip in, arrived bang on time, set up, delivered a superb, extended set to a packed pub, got paid....[Cheers Matthew and Andy...you guys do pubs that promote live music proud]... and got home at the almost unheard of hour of 1am. It was good to see some old friends at the gig and many people who just happened to be in the pub, who were listening to Bridgefield for the first time, discovered a great live band and some tight funked up rock. Looking forward to going back to the Puzzle in the Spring/Summer.
October 20 2006
The Wheatsheaf, Dunstable, Beds. UK Fresh from last night's gig in Kentish Town, Bridgefield head for Bedfordshire and the Wheatsheaf...disaster...the pub have double-booked, and to make matters worse the other band have brought a support act of their own, a Screamo act...which was, er, um, different. No matter, time to adapt. We volunteer to go on first. Looking at the oppo, we decide to drop out our ballady, more down-beat numbers...they look more Gothic than Boris Karloff. What a set! Audience reaction was phenomenal. It always takes people a track or two to "get" Bridgefield, but when they do, they go with it big-time...some great dance moves were unfolding in front of us. We made some new friends tonight and are going back to venue on the 15th Dec...don't miss it.
October 19 2006

The Fiddler's Elbow, Kentish Town, London Crikey...gig night and we're fighting our way through the West London traffic to make our sound check slot...except we arrive only a few minutes late (having picked Tola up walking in totally the wrong direction) and one of the supports is non-existent and the headline have forgotten something and have to drive back to Romford. Oh, well,we commandeer their drums and sound check. I'm warming to the venue. Sound Engineer a smashing French chap. No sign of promoter though. We crack into our routine, in front of Tola's very loud and flambouyant entourage...nice one Regency and all you guys, made the gig for me. But this gig was important. Kenny's first on the tubs...and he was good, no great, and that made us great. The set was aggressively sublime, Tola and Rose got chatted up by most of North London...definitely one for the ladies and Kenny.
September 16 2006
The Downley Donkey, Plomer Lane, Downley, High Wycombe, UK. Time to try out our new drummer regime. It was the turn of our session drummer, Burn rhythm-maestro, and all-round good egg, Ross Elder. Two rehearsals and we were away, off to the Downley Donkey. Quite possibly, more noted for its penchant for covers bands, Bridgefield took to the stage wondering what the locals would make of their brand of funked-up rock/pop. Well the place was packed, the sound quality was outstanding, not only thanks to a flawless performance by the mighty Bridgefield, but also to the expert sound engineering of Nick Kent and the lights....aaahhh, the lights; Dave Catterall microwaved, basted and roasted the joint with an outstanding luminage. Tola's vocals, what is there left to say...genius, and she was, for the first time, staggeringly well supported by the backing vocals of Rosie Kent....first gig ever for her, and it was an all-round doozer. Here's a pic of Rose, basking in the glory.
April 27 2006
The Puzzle Pub, Middlesex St, London E1 Click for pics The 24 hours leading up to this gig were unbelievable. John blew up his amp in the pre-gig rehearsal and Tola lost her voice with a throat infection that later proved to be laryingitis. Nevertheless, the show must go on and the band delivered a two-set show impeccably. The 150-strong crowd were visibly and audibly impressed as the band moved energetically through a range of their trademark alternative pop-rock culminating in the mania of Slaying Ground, Be Mine Tonight and Broken Heart; three songs which have stadium anthem tattooed all over their privates. Encores delivered, Tola and the guys looked mightily chuffed that the show took place at all.
